Boys’ basketball: Ayala earns Division III state final berth
- Share via
The “other” basketball team in Chino Hills, Ayala, earned a trip to play in the state Division III championship game with a 63-54 win over Bonita on Saturday night at Colony.
Ayala (33-3) will play Manteca on Thursday at 4 p.m. at Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento.
John Edgar scored 23 points and Austen Awosika had 20 points.
In any other season, Ayala would be considered the best team in the neighborhood.
But not far away is Chino Hills High, the No. 1-ranked team in the nation at 34-0.
The good news is no city in California can lay claim to two high school basketball teams as good as Ayala and Chino Hills.
