Boys’ basketball: Crespi, Harvard-Westlake advance to state championship games

It was a good night for the Mission League on Saturday, with Encino Crespi advancing to the Division I state championship game and Harvard-Westlake making it to the Division IV finval.
Crespi outlasted Redondo, 66-63, in overtime at The Pyramid in the Division I Southern California Regional final. De’Anthony Melton scored 21 points and had 15 rebounds. Brandon Williams contributed 15 points, including a decisive three-point player with 37.7 seconds left in overtime. Taj Regans made four free throws in the final seconds.
Leland Green led Redondo with 15 points.
In the Division IV regional final at Colony, Harvard-Westlake avenged an earlier loss to Viewpoint by winning, 52-39.
Freshman Cassius Stanley, who missed the last two games recovering from a concussion, scored 22 points and had nine rebounds.
Crespi will play on Thursday night in Sacramento at 8 p.m. against Berkeley. Harvard-Westlake will play Saturday at noon against Salinas Palma.
