Football: El Toro routs Los Alamitos in West Valley Division opener
- Share via
El Toro, the third-place finisher from the South Coast League, opened a 28-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back in routing Sunset League champion Los Alamitos, 59-21, on Thursday night in a West Valley Division playoff opener at Veterans Stadium.
Los Alamitos (9-2) faced long odds after standout running back Denzal Brantley was injured during the first series of the game. Without a running game, the Griffins were no match for El Toro (8-3), which relied on the passing of quarterback Trey Tinsley and a defense that featured interception returns for touchdowns by Joe Schottmiller and Victor Reyes.
Marcus Desantis had a 92-yard touchdown run for El Toro.
