Robert Sacre on Lakers’ season: ‘It was tough’

Robert Sacre spoke to the media on Thursday after his exit interview with Coach Byron Scott and General Manager Mitch Kupchak.

What was his take on the Lakers’ 21-61 season?

“It sucked,” said Sacre. “As competitors, we all don’t want to lose. No one wants to lose. When the games weren’t going our way, it was tough. Every night it was tough.”

The third-year center averaged 4.6 points and 3.5 rebounds a game this season through 67 appearances and 18 starts.

He said he’ll work all summer to improve individually.

“Focus more on my post game,” said Sacre, who was happy to see his role grow with the team. “Just keeping getting better on the offensive side.”

“I was just a practice dummy but I’ve progressed to where I’m actually getting minutes and playing,” he continued. “The sky is the limit.”

The Lakers need to decide before July if they would like to guarantee Sacre’s $981,348 salary for next season.

“I’d love to be a part of the Lakers. It’s home, for now,” he said.

Despite the losing, Sacre enjoyed his teammates.

“It was really fun to play,” said Sacre. “Guys competed and played hard.”
