Rams long snapper Jake McQuaide established a first for the franchise Wednesday when he was named to the Pro Bowl.
McQuaide, a sixth-year pro who played at Ohio State, is the first Rams long snapper to be selected for the annual all-star game, which will be played Jan. 29 in Orlando, Fla. McQuaide was selected as a “need “player by Dallas Cowboys Coach Jason Garrett, the Rams said in a release.
McQuaide joins defensive tackle Aaron Donald and punter Johnny Hekker in the Pro Bowl, who were announced as selections last month. Both were voted into the game for the third time.
Hekker established NFL records with a 46-yard net-punting average and by placing 51 punts inside the 20-yard-line. The Rams’ gave up a league-low 4.3 yards per return. McQuaide also snapped for kicker Greg Zuerlein, who made 19 of 22 field-goal attempts and all 23 conversion kicks.
