Pauley Pavilion court to be ready in early October

Pauley Pavilion is expected to be ready for use by Oct. 10, as the installation of the basketball court continues daily.
The arena’s floor had to replaced after part of the campus was flooded when a water pipe on Sunset Boulevard broke last month. The cleanup has ended and installation began the last week of August.
How bad was the flooding?
“You ever see ‘The Ten Commandments’?” said Dennis Koehne, the assistant manager for events at Pauley Pavilion. “I felt like the pharaoh at the Red Sea.”
Still, there was never a doubt the floor would be repaired in time for basketball season.
“It’s a 44-day process and we’re in our eighth day,” Koehne said Wednesday. “We have 20 guys working on the floor. When we renovated Pauley, we had nine.”
The UCLA men’s basketball team plays Azusa Pacific in an exhibition game on Oct. 31. The women’s team plays Westmont in an exhibition game on Nov. 2.
