How teatime magic at Pasadena’s Langham hotel can do a lot of good

The Langham Huntington, Pasadena is rolling out a tea service Sunday for children who like to dress up as their favorite character -- and indulge in a bit of magic.

Imagine Teas, held in the hotel’s lobby lounge, showcases young performers from Hollywood’s Magic Castle. They come to practice card tricks and other sleight-of-hand during the tea.

The menu for little ones includes cookies, ham, turkey and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches as well as desserts. Pink lemonade, milk and fruity caffeine-free teas also will be served.

The idea is to have fun -- and do some good. It’s the second year the hotel has hosted teas and donated part of the proceeds to charity. This year’s funds will help Five Acres, an Altadena-based organization that has been helping children and families since 1888, according to its website.

Its mission emphasizes the safety and well-being of children and provides support services for adoptions and foster care.

Teas will be Sunday (at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., which has sold out), June 7 and Sept. 13. Tickets cost $48 for adults and $36 for children 4 to 12 years old.

Reservations are required.
