Portland: Get $50 cash with your room at hotels from downtown to Mt. Hood

In December, I wrote about the Portland Perks Package, which gave $50 cash and other freebies to holiday shoppers who stayed two nights at selected hotels in Portland. Now the package is back in time for a late spring break -- but only until the end of April.
The deal: The current Portland Perks Package requires a two-night minimum stay at hotels listed on its website. Free parking, free continental breakfast for two, $50 cash and a discount book with coupons are included. Among the coupons are 2-for-1 admission to the Oregon History Museum and 20% off a ticket to the Oregon Zoo.
When: You must reserve and stay by April 30.
Tested: Travel Portland, the city’s tourism association, runs the hotel discount campaign. Check out participating hotels and make reservations at the Portland Perks website -- not with individual hotels. The package can be booked online or by phone.
To test this deal, I decided to go a bit further afield and check availability for a stay at the Resort at the Mountain, a 157-room hotel in the foothills of Mt. Hood about an hour southeast of Portland. I found a room with two queen-sized beds for $149 per night, plus fees, for Friday and Saturday nights.
