Las Vegas: It’s Mardi Gras daily at Rio, but Feb. 12 is special
- Share via
It’s Mardi Gras every day inside the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, but on Fat Tuesday -- Feb. 12 -- a variety of Vegas headliners will join the regular cast of colorfully costumed characters in the Show in the Sky, the resort’s nightly free attraction.
At 6 p.m., the floats suspended from the ceiling above the casino will carry performers from several resorts. The Rio’s own Chippendales will be there (although the troupe’s best known members -- James and Jaymes from CBS-TV’s “The Amazing Race” -- won’t be among those tossing colorful bead necklaces to the crowd). Also entertaining will be some of the drag queens from Divas Las Vegas, hypnotist Anthony Cools and cast members from Peepshow, including singer-actor Josh Strickland.
Many nights, including on Fat Tuesday, visitors are welcome to ride aboard the floats. Twenty-one spots are available aboard three of the fantasy floats. Riders must be at least 38 inches tall, and those under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Tickets, priced at $12.95, are available at the Rio box office. More details are available at the attraction’s website.
