From the Archives: Captured sunbather

More than 700 Leatherneck Reservists from eight states came ashore during their annual two-week training. They spent a full week in amphibious training before the simulated landing.
After hitting the beach from landing craft, the Marines advanced through a smoke screen and took cover on the beach.
A similar photo by Robert Lachman’s appeared on page 1 the next morning. Four additional photos were used on an inside page.
